Kathryn’s Saturday Social, 24 October, Sage Gateshead

This show sold out within a few hours. The venue may release more tickets, so check back with Sage Gateshead. Live stream tickets are available. Kathryn will be performing live with her dad, Mike Tickell, and fiddle-playing brother Peter Tickell. They’re travelling from their homes in the heart of rural Northumberland to the big city for this special “Welcome Back” concert as Sage re-opens it’s music programme. It will be the first time they’ve performed together as a trio for over fifteen years! Expect tunes galore, songs, stories, lockdown reflections, and clog dancing from special guest Heather Ferrier. The concert will be live streamed, so wherever you are in the world you can enjoy this Northumbrian family gathering!

New dates to be announced for St George’s Bristol, Lakeside Nottingham, The Stables Milton Keynes, Corn Hall Diss, Saffron Hall, Blackheath Concert Halls, Huntingdon Hall Worcester, Manchester Folk Festival. Not all venues are on sale yet (or back on sale!). Live Dates will be updated as concerts are announced. Hexham Book Festival

In May, Hexham Book Festival launched “Story Space” in support of Children North East — a charity that provides grass-roots support to disadvantaged families and children. A host of authors, artists and other well-known faces read some of their favourite children’s stories at Story Space online. Kathryn reads “The Dam”, by David Almond. The target audience is 5 years and upwards, so get a blanket, a cup of tea and settle down for a story!

Folk on Foot Front Room Festival 2

With concerts being cancelled in these trying times, we are delighted to welcome a positive ray of sunshine: Folk on Foot Front Room Festival 2. This takes place on May 25th (Spring Bank Holiday in the UK), starting at 2pm BST. It will be streamed on the Folk on Foot YouTube Channel and Facebook page and will be free to watch.

Kathryn joins a stunning line up of artists, each of whom have recorded a 30 minute set from their front rooms (though Kathryn’s is from her kitchen — quite possibly multi-tasking!). The fabulous line up consists of Cara Dillon and Sam Lakeman, Chris Wood, Duncan Chisholm, Eliza Carthy, Frank Turner and Jess Guise, Gwilym Bowen Rhys, John Smith, Johnny Flynn, Kate Rusby and Damien O’Kane, Kitty Macfarlane, O’Hooley and Tidow, Richard Thompson and Zara Phillips, Rioghnach Connoly and Ellis Davies and the online premiere of a behind the scenes film of the Unthanks’ last tour.

Folk on Foot has launched a crowdfunding appeal. Half the money raised will go to the charity Help Musicians — which supports musicians suffering financial hardship — and half will be divided between the artists taking part in the festival. You can donate at folkonfoot.com/festival.
