A fascinating edition of Music Planet is lined up on BBC Radio 3, Saturday 13 February, 16.00 GMT. Kathryn interviews Jonathan Ward — music historian, record collector and producer of Dust-to-Digital’s latest release Excavated Shellac: An Alternate History of the World’s Music, a collection of rare 78s from around the world.
BBC Radio 3’s Music Planet, 30 January 16.00 GMT: Kathryn presents music from this year’s online Celtic Connections festival. Specially recorded performances from bands across Europe and North America include a set from Quebec band Le Vent du Nord. Kathryn introduces studio sessions too, from young Celtic band Gnoss and Gaelic singer Kathleen MacInnes.
On December 26th at 17.00 GMT, join Kathryn, her dad Mike and brother Peter for an hour of tunes, songs and their selection of tracks. This episode of Radio 3’s Music Planet comes to you from a locked down pub in deepest Northumberland. The programme is available on BBC Sounds after broadcast.
Due to London entering Tier 3 of Covid restrictions, Kings Place cannot open for concerts. Kathryn and Amy’s concert on 19th December, and all the other “Folk in the Fall” concerts, are to be rescheduled. The provisional date is 13th March 2021.
The concert at Kings Place, London, Saturday 19th December, has sold out of physical tickets BUT we can announce that the concert will be live streamed. Tickets are £9.50 and you will be able to view the concert again whenever you like, up until 11.59pm, 31st December! Folk in the Fall at Kings Place has been rescheduled to 19 December. Kathryn and Amy Thatcher join a host of acclaimed folk musicians for a day of live concerts, featuring Leveret, Martin Simpson, Jimmy Aldridge & Sid Goldsmith, and Emily Portman & Rob Harbron.
Kathryn and Amy Thatcher’s concerts at Saffron Hall have been rescheduled to Saturday 16th January. Two performances at 5pm and 8pm. A few tickets remaining.
