Purbeck Valley Folk Festival Sunday 22 August — line up change

If you follow Kathryn on Twitter you’ll know that within the space of a few hours two members of The Darkening had to drop out due to Covid. Determined not to let Purbeck audiences down, Kathryn, Amy and Kieran rehearsed long into the night with the superb singer and harpist Rachel Newton. Luckily Rachel will be en route to another show after Purbeck and is able to squeeze in this festival slot on Sunday evening. It will be a memorable show!

Real live concerts coming up! Cockermouth Live on 3 July, has been sold out for a while. Ryedale Festival on 27 July has sold out for the 5pm performance, but some tickets are available for the 8pm show. Exciting!

Kathryn interviews Jonathan Ward — music historian, record collector and producer of Dust-to-Digital’s latest release Excavated Shellac: An Alternate History of the World’s Music, a collection of rare 78s from around the world. 

Music Planet — Celtic Connections

BBC Radio 3’s Music Planet, 30 January 16.00 GMT: Kathryn presents music from this year’s online Celtic Connections festival. Specially recorded performances from bands across Europe and North America include a set from Quebec band Le Vent du Nord. Kathryn introduces studio sessions too, from young Celtic band Gnoss and Gaelic singer Kathleen MacInnes.
