Cloud Horizons: No. 4 in the Official Folk Charts!

In the past month UK and international sales of ‘Cloud Horizons’ have meant that Kathryn & The Darkening have gone straight in at No. 4  on the Official Folk Albums Chart, compiled by the Official Charts Company in partnership with English Folk Expo.

Kathryn joins host Matthew Bannister for an exclusive interview in Folk on Foot’s ‘Official Folk Albums Chart Show’. The programme is available to watch on the English Folk Expo website, as well as the Official Charts Company website.

‘Cloud Horizons’ – release day!

The new album by Kathryn Tickell & The Darkening has been released into the wild! In celebration, a new video has been released to accompany a track from the album: ‘One Night in Moaña’. Kathryn, the band and festival-goers enjoy a night of music and friendship at the Festival Intercéltico do Morrazo in Galicia.

BBC Breakfast — live from Lindisfarne Festival

On Friday September 1st Kathryn appears live on national television on BBC Breakfast, on location at Lindisfarne Festival. Situated on the north east coast of England, the festival site overlooks the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. Kathryn and her band The Darkening perform on the Main Stage later that day.

Clogstravaganza video and single release

Delighted to announce the second single release from Cloud Horizons: ‘Clogstravaganza’! The album release date is 1st September, but you can enjoy ‘Clogstravaganza’ as well as the earlier single release ‘Long For Light’ right now if you pre-order the album from Kathryn’s Bandcamp page. Album announcement!

With huge excitement we can reveal that Kathryn Tickell & The Darkening’s new album Cloud Horizons is to be released on September 1st. The new record can be pre-ordered now from Kathryn’s new Bandcamp page. All pre-orders will get the first single from the album for immediate download: “Long For Light”. The inimitable sound of Kathryn’s piping opens this enigmatic trip-hop influenced song and an ancient Northumbrian language is reimagined. Check out a gorgeous video here.

Fly-Fishing Adventure!

Kathryn features in an episode of Robson Green’s new series on ITV4. Kathryn teams up with Heather Ferrier (accordion, clogs) and Alastair Paul (guitar) for a few tunes. ‘Robson and Jim’s Fly-Fishing Adventure’ starts on April 5th at 21.00 GMT. The episode featuring the River Tyne with Kathryn and friends is on April 19th.
